AFTER-SCHOOL
& SUMMER ACTIVITIES for youth in grades 7-12.
Hang
out with your friends after school while you do fun and interesting
activities.
Things
you can do:
Rec
Check - Fun,
recreational activities at Baker Community Center.
College
Access - Come
to the College Access Resource Center at Neighborhood House
to get information of colleges and help with your homework.
Beatology
- Use
professional quality software to create your own audio CD.
Make beats on the computer, play instruments, and/or sing
to create your masterpiece.
Teen
Space. Teen Power. – Youth in 7-12th grade are invited
to a space where older youth can create music, videos, and
art. It is a space where older youth can go to talk,
relax, and listen.
Spoken
Word – Have your voice heard! Work with an established
spoken word artist to write your own lyrics or poetry about
issues you feel are important. You can perform your work live
or use your work from this activity in combination with the
music you make in the Digital Music class.
Cooking
& Fitness:
-Harvest
to Table - Work
with Youth Farm to actively explore how fun and interesting
food is, and eat it too!
-Teen
Fitness Blast - Explore
a variety of different fitness activities including sports,
dance, and other forms of excercise.
Media
Arts - Explore media arts, with a large focus on
music and video. There is also the option of taking
advantage of the open computer lab. Open to students
in grades 6-12.
Enrichment
- Join us of interactive and fun creative activities
that connect education to the diverse world we live in.
St.
Matt's Tech Club - Explore and learn about how to
use and enjoy various technology media. We also celebrate
our accomplishments as a group. Open to junior high
students.
Basketball
& Math - Learn
about awesome ways to use math in ways that are meaningful
to your life.
Cookin'
& Crafts - Join other youth in cookin' good foods
and makin' cool crafts.
Spanish
Culture - Explore Spanish culture in fun and creative
ways.
Hmong
Literacy and Dance- Explore
Hmong culture through traditional dance.
Theatre
– The local SteppingStone Theatre organization will lead a
theater group for teens on the West Side…leadership…
Youth
Guides – Leadership opportunities for 6th -8th graders!

Help is available at three sites around the nieghborhood
Monday through Thursday:
